At our live shows, i always try to teach the audience a thing or two. in the summer of 2017, we shared with our audience some really cool things like, "how to treat company the second time they come over."

another thing i told them was to watch old episodes of Soul Train with your kids.
kids love to dance, and they love to watch people dance.
my favorite Soul Train dancer was Damita Jo Freeman, a gangly, long-legged black girl with afro puffs and denim hot pants.
she saved Joe Tex's (who couldn't dance, and couldn't lip-synch) abysmal lip-synched performance of "I Gotcha" when she jumped onstage with him him, and began interacting with him. for my 8 year-old self, it was the hottest thing i had ever seen.
this song pays tribute to her.
almost overnight, Damita became an icon in the black community
